In a Nutshell
A beautiful "deLuxe" 5-tube superhet with Beam-a-scope antenna and multi-weave burnished metal grille in a cabinet made by Valley City Mfg. Co. in Dundas Ontario
Introduction:
This radio was made in 1946 as soon as the war was over. Four models share the almost identical chassis: 100 (brown plastic), 101 (ivory plastic), 103 (solid mahogany wood), 105 (ivory painted solid maple wood). The 5-tube chassis was upgraded in 1948 to 6 tubes (model numbers 200, ...). The Canadian models are C-100 to C-105. The cabinet for at least model 105 was made by the renowned but now defunct Canadian furniture company Valley City Mfg. Co. in Dundas, Ontario (ref.1). The multi-weave burnished metal speaker grille was not unique to General Electric. Stromberg Carlson used a very similar one in their 1946 Model 752. And now get your license to operate the radio from the Canadian minister of transport, otherwise the Queen will get it (pict.22).
