As a retired professor for Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics I am familiar with vacuum tubes and old-fashioned electronics. What would have been closer than making it my hobby to restore technical antiques, like vintage radios, phonographs gramophones and the like. There is hardly any more versatile activity that would keep my 86 years old brain young: getting familiar with the history of an object, trying to fully understand its purpose and provenance, diagnosing its technical and assessing its cosmetic conditions, and evaluating steps to improve them. The most crtitical step is purchasing an item and determining its purchase price, anticipating a successful restoration. Then comes the restoration, as soft and non-invasive as possible, as sustainable as necessary, testing the results, taking pictures, writing descriptions and documenting all that. The final steps are pricing an object, make it ready for sale, pack it and ship it safely to you. You are also kindly invited to visit us in Chilliwack, B.C. Canada. I wrote this website myself a long time ago. It is not state-of-the-art and I get almost daily offers to make it mobile friendly, include social media presence, optimizre it for search engines, etc. I am very thankful for these offers and am still trying to find one-time help, that lets me continue to maintain, further develop and update my documentations without needing permanent assistance.
Here is my 12th list of items for sale. The previous list (https://www.radio-antiks.com/IndexRadio-Antiks_Radios_for_Sale_11.htm) is now retired, but the remaining items are still available. The detailed descriptions for sold items are kept on the server, since they attract a diverse, keen to debate and engaged readership and generate modest traffic. The objects are restored inside and out as softly as possible and as agressively as necessary to get them back to original condition, and all work flawlessly in all their respective functions. For many of the items I finished writing detailed documentation and restoration reports, including youtube video footages (click on "Details" in first column of the table below), the other documentations will be added one by one. For all items I have already taken many pictures (click on "Slides" in first column or request more pictures ("pix av.") to be sent to you). Please check back for updates to the list, including new and sold items. Please e-mail (chriswch@shaw.ca) me or phone me at (1) 604-688-9654 (ask for Kris), to ask questions, ask for more photos, make a viewing appointment, make me an offer, or buy an item. Ich spreche Deutsch, je parle Français.
I take all forms of payment including Paypal and as former EBay seller with 100% positive feedback I know how to ship safely to anywhere in the world. I do not charge for handling. One letter (this was for an Abbotwares Rearing Horse & Cowboy radio) may stand for the hundreds I got from happy customers.

Just letting you know, the radio arrived today. It was packed extremely well. I looked at the outside of it and no damage. Also, packed very well inside. I LOVE it! ...
Thanks again. It is a pleasure doing business with you and I appreciate the care and consideration you have for your craft. Please keep in touch and let me know what else you are working on.
Cheers! David
I also buy unrestored radios, gramophones, and phonographs, help you assess their commercial value, and - in selected cases - offer repair service and parts supply. |
